Web-Based Assessment Assignment

Introduction: Hello class! Today we're going to dive into a project by creating a digital lesson using Padlet to visually explain fractions. This is a great way to demonstrate your understanding of fractions. Demonstration: We’ll start by typing padlet.com in your search browser. You can sign up for free and are allowed 3 padlets. If you need more than 3, you will have to purchase a different plan. I use the free version and delete old Padlets when I don’t need them anymore so I can stay at 3. Once you are in Padlet, you are going to click on “Gallery” at the top left. Scroll down until you get to “Lesson”. Click on “Lesson” and you can click on “See example”. This will give you an idea of how to structure your lesson. Click back on the original Padlet tab and click “Create” to create your lesson. Once you click “Create”, you will be taken to a screen that has some preloaded tabs. There are also instructions to the right to assist you with your lesson. Click on the “Settings” button and you can give your lesson a title, a description, change the color of the wallpaper, change the font, the color scheme, and several other things. You can also click if you want students to be able to comment on your Padlet. Once your settings are the way you want them, you can exit out of that and begin making your lesson. For our lesson on fractions, I put an Overview, Learning Objectives, Lesson (which includes several posts on fractions), Resources (which includes YouTube videos to explain fractions), Activity with a link to complete an interactive worksheet, and Assessment, which also includes a link for an interactive quiz. You can add more sections or rename them as you would like. You can also rearrange your posts if you need to. Be sure that all fractions are accurately represented and explained. Make sure you are using Padlet effectively. Make sure your Padlet is creative and original. Make sure the information is clear and easy to read. Finally, make sure your Padlet shows high effort and detail. For students who need assistance with creating the Padlet, the following accommodations are available: You can search in Google for a Padlet on Fractions and you can tweak the pre-designed Padlet and make it your own. At the top of the screen, you can click on “Learn” and watch videos on how to create a Padlet and make the most of it. Extended-time is available for those who have that accommodation. I am available to assist with the project 1:1 during office hours. You could also create your lesson with a different format such as a poster or Google Slides. Conclude: Once you've completed your Padlet, you can click on the right on the “Share” button and you can copy the link to share. You can also click on the “Slideshow” button to share the Padlet with your class. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
